Chesterfield Community Care Farm is a not for profit social enterprise dedicated to providing opportunities to young people and adults seeking experience and accredited training in the practical care of livestock and land.
Our mission statement is Opportunities for All and our provision is flexible so that we can both meet the needs of people seeking an entry point into the world of work and the needs of disabled or otherwise disadvantaged people seeking meaningful activity as volunteers or an alternative to traditional day care.
We promote the development of social skills and raise awareness of the links between land, food and production.
We have 23 acres used for livestock enclosures – pigs, sheep, cows, goats, poultry, rabbits and more – and in development for market gardening activity.
The culture of the community farm is based on care farm principles, (www.carefarminguk.org) with all staff and volunteers encouraged to take a full and active part in the running of the farm. The contributions of all participants are valued, regardless of how large or small they are.
